Yesterday, the often-unintelligible heavy-metal superstar Ozzy Osbourne blew in/blew out of downtown West Palm Beach to receive the keys to the city from Mayor Lois Frankel.
Too bad he didn’t stop by Sloan’s ice cream parlor on downtown’s Clematis Street. The locally famous chartreuse and hot-pink storefront had made a flavor in his honor.
There’s plenty of it left.
Earlier today, Sloan’s owner Sloan Kamenstein said he figured there will be enough to last through the weekend. “We made about 15 gallons.”
The flavor’s aptly dubbed “Crazy Train,” a decades-old single that’s still regarded as one of Osbourne’s best as a solo performer.
A vanilla ice cream base includes Twinkies, Yodels, chocolate-covered marshmallows, chocolate chunks, pecans and peanuts.
When asked if the inspiration for the flavor had anything to do with Osbourne’s telling stories about bodily functions, Kamenstein laughed. “No!”
